Weekend Plans

Friends who know me personally are aware that I’ve been fighting a little lower leg pain the past two months. I’ll refer to it as little but in reality it has been a huge pain in the Newtons. I can’t think of a more ridiculous way to ease those leg pains then the ultimate ice bath……

So we headed up the coast to join family for a fun weekend. Saturday morning I had a medium long run planned. I took off with my Garmin not sure what to expect in a town I am not familiar with and found a perfect flat stretch of road with plenty of room for runners to avoid car traffic safely and virtually no cross streets. Runner heaven. My run turned into an impromptu 14 miler with quarter mile pick ups at 10K pace. Loved it.

Then the plunge….

Family Plunge

Fun, not nearly as “painful” as I thought (Come on…We are Marathoners!) Best people watching ever. I had no idea costumes were the norm. Bananas, Gorillas, Bears, Santa, and Meatheads were there. Will I be back next year? For sure except expect my ridiculousness to come out in costume form. Minnie Mouse Marathoner maybe?? Yes, this is me last Fall.


Four weeks until the Shamrock Half Marathon so this week is a heavy up week of training. I’ll share the details of my schedule after the training week is done. Mileage is subdued because of my lower leg injury but the intensity is there. Saturday I’ll be running a cross country style race as a workout with a great running group in Virginia Beach, the Hampton Road Runners Come join us:

  1. Can’t wait to see your progress over the next 4 weeks!! Smart to keep the mileage down but intensity up during this issue with your leg. Hoping you get pass it soon 🙂
